Question #1: How do I purchase a course?

At the Focused Medical Information (FMI) web site, www.focusedmedical.info, click on the Purchase link in the upper right corner.  This will direct you to our course catalog and secure online e-commerce facility where you can purchase a course.

Question #2: Once I have purchased a course, can I access it immediately?

Yes.  During the purchase process, you will create a username (your email address) and password and you will be asked if you want to enter your account once the purchase is complete.  Or, you can go to our web site at www.focusedmedical.info and click the Login link in the upper right corner.

Question #3: I have purchased a course – how do I access it?

During the purchase process, you created a username (your email address) and password.  Go to our web site at www.focusedmedical.info and click the Login link in the upper right corner, then enter your username (email address) and password and you are in your account.  Then click the Courses button at the top and access the course that you want to start/continue.

Question #4: Once I have purchased a course, do I have to complete the course in one online session?

No.  FMI courses are built in persistent databases.  You can access your account and courses at any time – many times – thereby learning at your own pace.

Question #5: I am having purchase trouble – what do I do?

Make sure that you are using a valid Visa or MasterCard – not American Express or Discover or any other card.  If you continue to have trouble, email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Question #6: I am having print trouble – what do I do?

Your system must be able to print an Adobe Acrobat PDF file type (common document management system).  If you cannot, you can download Acrobat Reader for free here:

Also, your system needs to have a working printer connection.  Sometimes hospital networks are problematic in this area.  One thing you can do is access your account from a different PC that you know has Adobe Acrobat print capabilities and a working print connection, access your course, and go to the Print Certificate button on the Course Summary page and try again.

Question #7: I am having login trouble – what do I do?

Make sure you are accessing your account from a PC.  Macs can have trouble with e-learning platforms like ours, as can AOL – so you might want to try a different browser once you have an Internet connection – like Internet Explorer.

Question #8: I have finished the course but can’t find the Print Certificate button?

There are two things to check:

One, make sure that you have completed the course requirements on the Course Summary page.  You need to view a certain percentage of the course contents (usually 80%) and you need to pass a Final Exam (usually with a grade of 80%).  This will be detailed in Section 1 – Course Requirements.  The Course Summary page in the table of contents (left navigation bar) will detail your progress.  If you have met the requirements of the course, a Print Certificate button will be present on the Course Summary page.

Two, a second source of this problem may be that the Course Summary page does not list a Final Exam score, so the system does not think that you have met the course requirements.  Go to the Final Exam section in the table of contents / left navigation bar by clicking on the Final Exam topic.  Expand the folder and click on the last question.  Then click to go to the next topic (one way is to use the right red arrow upper right).  This will be the ‘end’ of your test and their might still be an End Assessment button with explanatory text saying that you need to tell the system that your are done with the test, you do not need to go back and review anything and you wish to submit your final answers for grading.  Once you do this, you will see your score and the Course Summary page, and if you have met the course requirements, a Print Certificate button.

Question #9: Can I retake tests?

Yes.  Practice Tests are drawn from large question banks and can always be reset.  Be sure to hit the End Assessment button each time you finish a Practice Test or the system will not reset.  Go to the beginning of the Practice Test section to start over per the instructions.  Final Exams can only be retaken if you do not pass.
